FAQ
Got questions?
Is my child ready to take piano lessons?
If you have an interest in the piano, you are well on your way to learning it. Fei advises that children can begin their piano as early as ages 4 to 6, but scheduling a trial lesson is the most effective method to assess their readiness. Music contributes significantly to the joy of childhood, making it an excellent time to start, regardless of age.
Am I too old to begin piano?
Age is just a number when it comes to playing the piano! Fei has joyfully taught little ones as young as 3 and spirited grandparents over 70! Learning the piano is a fantastic choice that you make for yourself, a delightful commitment to carve out time each day to express your soul through music. When you focus on what you love, everything else fades into the background—it's just pure joy!
Do I need a piano to begin lessons?
Yes, there are options like electric pianos from brands such as Yamaha, Casio, and Roland for short-term enjoyment until your skills improve. You can also rent a piano from a local store. In Vancouver, contact Fei for rental recommendations or help in selecting the right piano. Choosing the perfect piano is enjoyable, and Fei can guide you based on your budget.
Can I or my child handle the practicing part?
Many piano learners, whether adults or children, struggle with practice. Adults face time constraints, while children often prefer playtime. Finding a piano teacher who inspires practice is crucial, as building musical interest requires collaboration among the family, child, and teacher. When aligned, everyone understands expectations and commitment for success. With proper guidance, motivation can flourish, making practice enjoyable. Miss Fei emphasizes developing smart, conscious practice habits from the start.
